IN THIS LESSON : You will learn how to start your day as a spa director. It took me years in leadership to figure out how to effectively divide my time, attention, and focus. In this lesson, I will share the morning routine that I found most useful. I encourage you to use this as a guide but also to adapt it to your own needs, as every spa is unique.

Beginning  

    • Opening Ritual

    • Take a moment to check in on your mental health.

    • Prepare for your expected highs and lows of the day.

    • Make a mental commitment to be present in the spa.

    • Take a deep breath and find gratitude.

    • Procedures:

    • Conduct a walkthrough of guest and team spaces.

    • Ensure the closing procedures assigned to the team were completed properly.

    • Ensure the spa was cleaned to your standards.

    • Ensure the relaxation lounge and treatment rooms are guest-ready.

    • Ensure the lobby is welcoming and retail displays are perfect.

    • Take note of any maintenance items that need to be reported and/or repaired.

    • Check that equipment, steam rooms, sauna, etc. are functioning properly.

    • Ensure your five senses are evoked (e.g., pleasant aroma, soft music, appropriate lighting, beverages prepared, blankets displayed, etc.)

    • Review Appointments:

    • Review the schedule for appointments and guest flow.

    • Review which team members will be joining you for the day.

    • Make note of when VIPs are scheduled to arrive.

    • Review voice messages and emails, handling any urgent items.

    • Handle any last-minute bookings, cancellations, or team callouts.

    • Adjust staffing and resources as necessary.

    • Team Line Up:

    • Hold a morning meeting with the team to discuss the day.

    • Ensure team members are upholding image guidelines.

    • Review any special events, VIP clients, or promotions.

    • Review daily revenue and retail goals with the team.

    • Make the meeting upbeat, exciting, and inspirational.
